Atlas VPN app
Usually in reviews, I evaluate applications until the end, but here I can’t help but write about the application in the introduction. VPN services usually have extremely simple applications that anyone can use. For example, Private Internet Access is one of the simpler ones as well as NordVPN. Basically, I’d sing the praises of the apps here, but I can’t help but dig into the Windows installation process. When I installed the app, no window popped up about the installation taking place. The application was installed but could not be started. Eventually, a Windows restart solved it. However, this may also be due to the newer Windows 11. So just make sure you take that into account when you install it.

Until recently, AtlasVPN did not have an app, but in September 2022, after a long development process, AtlasVPN can be used on Linux on almost all distributions. The app can be downloaded from the AtlasVPN website or directly from the repository.

As I wrote in the introduction, Atlas VPN is available for free, but if you want more features from a VPN, you’ll need to pay for the service. That’s natural. But for some casual use, the free service will serve you well enough.

Atlas VPN has several security features such as ad blocking and malware blocking, split tunneling so you can make exceptions for which apps won’t use the VPN connection. Also worth mentioning is the use of the state-of-the-art WireGuard® protocol, which uses advanced cryptographic algorithms, but is also very fast and of course secure.
Privacy Policy
Atlas VPN has features that protect your privacy when using the internet. This VPN has its own DNS servers. That way, you don’t have to worry about someone recording what sites you visit on the internet. Since it’s an unlimited number of devices, there’s an option to connect the whole family to the VPN, but I don’t know if the terms and conditions allow it.

As I’ve written before, Atlas VPN is free to use, but it’s not a full-fledged VPN. At least not from my point of view. I expect more from a VPN, and free VPNs don’t offer that. AtlasVPN, what is the difference between the free and premium (paid) versions?
The difference between the free version and the premium paid version is the server locations, where you are limited to 3 server locations (3 countries) in the free version compared to 43 server locations in the premium version. There is also a fundamental difference in the amount of data transferred. In the free version, data transfer is limited to 5 GB per month. The premium version of AtlasVPN has no data cap.
The paid version of AtlasVPN also offers things like servers optimized for streaming services and better bandwidth speeds.

Evaluation and conclusion
Atlas VPN is the perfect value for money service. Firstly, it has its own free version, then it has stunningly simple apps, but most importantly it has the features you need in a VPN. With an emphasis on security, connectivity and usability. This is where Atlas VPN would get the highest score.
But then there is a smaller number of server locations. Atlas VPN doesn’t offer much here. Of course, it depends on your preferences, because what is not enough for one person is enough for another. It simply depends on what you want to use the virtual private network for. It’s a good choice for casual use, privacy, watching blocked content and gaming.
Your main concerns with a VPN are data security, quality of service, connection speed, and price. This is where Atlas VPN will not let you down. Believe me.
